Planning Department
The Planning Company, LLC is the City of Baldwin's designated planning official, staffs our Planning Department and oversees the City of Baldwin's development related activities and zoning administration to ensure that land uses are consistent with the City's long and short term goals and objectives.
The Planning Department serves as the City Staff liaison to the Planning Commission and reports to the City Council on land use issues. They also work with the Park Committee on park development issues and historic sites. One of the most important elements of the Planning Department’s role is providing information and assistance to residents, local businesses and developers.
The Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Ordinance and other development regulations are prepared by the Planning Commission and adopted by the City Council to be used by City staff in processing and review of development applications for land subdivisions, new development and redevelopment. Comprehensive Plan
The City of Baldwin's Comprehensive Plan provides a guide for how the community will continue to grow and develop in the next 20 years. The Comprehensive Plan is generally updated every ten years or as significant issues arise to reflect changing conditions.
